Album of the Week! - Bright Eyes, I'm Wide Awake, Its Morning

A couple of days ago I became re-acquainted with a beloved band of mine called Bright Eyes. They are the perfect sound to listen to when you are indoors on a drizzly day painting or drawing on a creative afternoon.

I was listening to this particular album when painting my final artwork for the HSC back in 2005 and am always reminded of the process and those long days and nights painting away with Bright Eyes softly chiming in the background.

moving/painting

This is what the place looks like (about 5 hours ago)

I painted my red room back white, it looks so ugly.

Momma's room is becoming a storage house

Everything is all packed up now. I'm sitting on the carpet typing this. I just didn't take pictures.

What is that? Lemme get closer for you.

It's a POD. It stores everything. This is what it began looking like yesterday. They will deliver this sucka to New York.

Here's the space inside, it fit everything! And there's even extra room.

Tomorrow morning is the day!

over the past few days

I've been busy the past few days.
I'm getting ready to help my family move to NY, so we've been packing up stuff, I'm painting back an old room and I'm sleeping on the floor. But the other day I went to Granbury and took lots of pictures of my friends dog and the sky and us together. I'll just put up a few so I don't bore you, but I was obsessed with the sky that day so there may still be many.

Titus loves to lick. That's all he wants to do. And bark, but he really can't since he has a bark collar. Poor guy.

we took lots of pictures of us together

Here's that sky I was talking about. Aren't you in awe?

Cassandra Rhodin

Another gorgeous fashion illustrator I have been inspired by is Swedish born Cassandra Rhodin. She uses pencil and watercolour to create wide-eyed, alien-like female forms. If you check out her website at the moment you will see her exhibition "Animal Planet" where the female forms in her work have been teamed with animals such as chameleons, zebras and leopards.

fail #2

An attempt at biscuits, failure.
It doesn't stop me from cooking.
I want to make them again, but I thought I would still show you pictures.

Here's where things start to get wrong. I didn't have a biscuit cutter so I found this pumpkin shaped cookies cutter, sometimes you just have to improvise. Maybe that hindered the biscuits.

#2: I don't have a roller or much space to work for the dough so I laid it down on a pan, pressed with my hands. I think I made them too thick.

#3: As you can tell I cooked them a little too long. I guess lightly brown to me means the biscuit is breaking apart.

Again, the final product. I had three different appearances of biscuits and had my own taste test. I filled them all with grape jelly since that's how I would normally eat my ready-made biscuits. The top right one was the most burnt and crunchy, but it wasn't too bad of a taste. The one to the left also seemed a little too brown but actually turned out being the best. The bottom one appearance wise seemed the best but it was too soft and didn't seem cooked enough.

I will give it another go and report back, but it may be a month or two later.

Fashion Illustrator - Judit Garcia-Talavera

Judit Garcia-Talavera is an amazing fashion illustrator based in Barcelona, Spain. Her medium is watercolours and inks creating soft, feminine works of art. I have included some favourites of mine below including one of Dita Von Teese, but have a look on her website for more gorgeous illustrations and follow her on her blog as well!
