Need boi-ish clothes?

Great news, bois!

This post comes with new, upcoming UK website www.tomboi-uk.com/ attached to it.

That's right, FINALLY a clothing website dedicated to boyish lesbians.

Part of tomboi's mission statement is to provide comfortable, unique clothes for lesbians who prefer a more boyish look.

The company is pretty new, so there aren't a wide range of stuff there yet, but what they have so far is good a start as any.

Available on the website are tops, (which are suitably matched to specific 'L Word' characters) bottoms and accessories, including a range of super gay belt buckles. Again, stock is quite limited because the site is quite fresh, but you can sign up to their mailing list quickly and easily that will update you on any new stock they receive.

Good luck and happy shopping!

Kiki and Nate Get That Corn, Son

Birthday

This month has been full of birthdays. First Peter, then Jeremy, and today is my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday, mom! Here are some of my favorite quotes on motherhood, all of which I feel apply to my very dear mother:

"All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother."
-- Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865)

"By and large, mothers and housewives are the only workers who do not have regular time off. They are the great vacationless class."
-- Anne Morrow Lindbergh

"The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom."
-- Henry Ward Beecher

"What the mother sings to the cradle goes all the way down to the coffin."
-- Henry Ward Beecher

"The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness."
-- Honore' de Balzac

"Whatever else is unsure in this stinking dunghill of a world a mother's love is not."
-- James Joyce

"The phrase "working mother" is redundant."
-- Jane Sellman

"God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers."
-- Jewish proverb

"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother."
-- Theodore Hesburgh (This one applies to my dad, but is still true.)

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us when adversity takes the place of prosperity when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."
--Washington Irving (This quote recalls to mind one specific instance in which I came home from school feeling very discouraged and disheartened by something that had happened. My mother's empathy for me at that time is one of my most cherised memories).

"Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children."
--William Makepeace Thackeray

"The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world."
-- William Ross Wallace

And my personal favorite:

"The only thing a lawyer won't question is the legitimacy of his mother."
-- W. C. Fields

Thanks for all you've done for us mom! May your birthday be the best yet.

Beloved.

Beautiful words [bits & pieces] from Jonathan David Helser from the song "Inheritance."

"I love you as you are.

So be loved.

You are the Beloved.

It is your job to be loved outrageously.

That you would receive a RADICAL love.

I will love you outrageously all the time.

This is who I Am.

This is who I will always be.

This is the “I AM” that promised you.

And you may love me back with the love that I give you.

You can only love me as much as you love yourself.

So my love comes to set you free from yourself, from how you see yourself, the smallness of your own thinking.

When I look at you says the Lord I see something I love. I see someone I can love outrageously.

I have so much to bestow upon you, so much to give you, so many places to take you in my heart.

But you can’t go there unless you allow Me.

My love for you will break ever barrier.

My love damages fear.

My love hates fear, will fight fear.

My perfect love cast out fear.

There is no fear where I am present.

Beloved, you are My Beloved.

In my love I want you to feel good, I want you to feel good about yourself."

I am His Beloved.

Deron Williams Has Some Important Information

We know, Deron. But thanks.

Blondes I would...

Up until recently, I was never a fan of blondes. I mean, I've only ever dated 1 and that was a long time ago.

But now, I just can't help but notice some of our fair-haired friends and in their honour, I've decided to come up with a list of 'Blondes I would...' - Well, you know.

In no particular order...

Jessica Capshaw. (Actress. Grey's Anatomy, The L Word.)

Aside from playing Arizona Robbins, the most perfect fictional character ever, and having the coolest Step-dad in Steven Spielberg (and her real father Bob Capshaw, let's not forget him), Jessica is pretty much the cutest thing on earth.

She can also be really sexy when she wants to be... (Click here.)

Lily Loveless. (Actress. Skins.)

I know, I know, most people are in love with Emily (played by Kathryn Prescott), but I'm in love with Naomi. She's not a natural blonde, but she's always had that look of Debbie Harry about her with her bleached blonde hair.

Oh and Lily, that red lipstick... Miaow.

Laurel Holloman. (Actress. The L Word. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love.)

Yeah, yeah, she's old enough to be my Mother. What's your point? Laurel is the definition of MILF and you know it! Apparently she's also bisexual, making her the only out bisexual on my list.

Did I mention her sex scenes with Jennifer Beals in the L Word?

Kimberly Wyatt. (Singer/Dancer. The Pussycat Dolls.)

Yes, I understand that she's a brunette now. But seriously, when she was blonde, Wyatt was smokin' hot. Do I really need to explain this one? She can dance, she's gorgeous, she has the cutest laugh...

Oh, and we all know how bendy she is...

Leisha Hailey. (Actress. The L Word. All Over Me.)

Again, not a natural blonde, but she's still super hot. Leisha is actually the only out lesbian on this list, making her that little bit hotter. She can sing, act, play various instruments... Is there anything she can't do?

I'm sure I could put her to the test...

And then there are the obvious ones like Charlize Theron and P!nk.

Who else would be on your list?

Lucky Duck.

I am a lucky duck, in many ways.

A lucky duck because I got to take sweet pictures last night.
A lucky duck because I heard such a beautiful sermon this morning.
A lucky duck because of the weather these past few days.
A lucky duck because I have such beautiful friends.

I'm a lucky duck.

Television Producers Pitch - My Crew

ryan-office

Okay, so here's the story. The show is called My Crew. We've got four guys from different walks of life, but they're all in the NBA. We'll use Erik Spoelstra, the Miami Heat coach. Brian Scalabrine, from the Celtics. Yao Ming from the Rockets, and Yi Jianlian from the Nets. It's set in the offseason and these guys are all like best friends and it's all about them making their way in the NBA. It'll be like Friends plus Entourage, so like the best show ever.

Here's the best part. We already cast the show. BJ Novak is in to play Spoelstra. The guy from LOST, he's going to be Yao. And we got Lloyd from Entourage to be Yi. That's great right? He'll definitely help us capture the right vibe for the show. But get this — Scalabrine is going to play himself!

Just let me know how many episodes you want.

Skins recaps the day after the episodes air!

If, like so many Skins fans, you live in the US and can't watch for months but can't wait that long, then look no further.

That's right, funky new review site The Daily Wiggle are publishing a re-cap of the new series of Skins every Friday before pretty much any other website.

Good news (maybe) for you: The review will be written by yours truly. That means you can expect plenty of information on this gorgeous pair:

The first 3 episodes have already been re-capped, so head to www.thedailywiggle.com to catch up! Episode 2 was all about Emily (played by Kathryn Prescott), so expect plenty of dyke drama there.

This Friday, Emily's twin sister Katie (Megan Prescott) gets her turn in the forefront, which probably means there'll be quite a bit of Naomily thrown in there.

I look forward to seeing you there!

AfterEllen, We Salute You.

I'm guessing that most of you stumbled upon this blog because of AfterEllen.com.

If you didn't, and you still don't know what AfterEllen is, I'm suggesting that you get there right now.

A lot of my advertising comes courtesy of AE, with links to my blog at the end of every comment I make. (Yeah, I've never published a picture of me on the blog, so click
here if you want to see me.)

Therefore, because of all the good they do for me, I thought they deserved a shout-out from me.

AfterEllen is possibly one of the best, if not the best, lesbian and bisexual entertainment website online today. They often publish new, official gay information before any other websites or news-site, giving gay women the resources they need efficiently.

Founded by Sarah Warn, the website was started in 2002, after she realized that there was so little great lesbian content on the web.

Just recently, the entire site was taken over by writer Karman Kregloe, who also happens to be married to out comedian Bridget McManus, who also happens to vlog on the site. It's like a big chain of inter-connectedness.

Many of the writers also vlog about the pros and cons of lesbianism, entertainment and general civil rights. Great shows such as Skins and Grey's Anatomy are also re-capped, alongside reviews of music, competitions and the occasional opinion poll for the readers to vote on.

So there you have it.

I can't really do the site justice. It's done so much for the lesbian community single-handedly, so you should just get there as soon as you can and check it out.

But don't forget to keep coming here! ;)

Being Asked.

Being asked to take pictures really lightens up my heart. I got a (late)call night where a close friend of mine asked me to take pictures of her and her roommate. I know its not wedding photography, or tiny naked babies, but just the thought of being asked I wanted to jump out of my bed and say "YES!" but I was too tired to jump up so I said "yes" in a very monotone, i'm tired, voice.

Basically if you want me to take pictures of you let me know, my answer is already YES!!

Here are some that I've taken when people specifically asked me to take pictures of them.

This wasn't a picture that made it on the Christmas Cards. I don't have those final ones, but I took them. This is one on my camera I liked.
Oh just being sillyheads.

My beautiful sweet, goofy, loving, friend, roommate, girl.

A very beautiful, sweet, loving Visser family.

I love taking pictures.

RetroTorch: Brian Winters Joins the Bucks

brian-winters

What's goin' on, sissies?

Name's Brian. Brian Winters. Yeah, you know me.

I'm here because you idiots traded Jabbar. Good one, ya jugheads.

You think I want to be in Wisconsin? This time last year I'm catching perch off the Santa Monica Pier, and now I've gotta choose which of 18 different cheeses I want on my grilled cheese.

Oh, you like my stache? Sure you do. I grew it as a joke cause I knew you jerks are in to that sort of thing.

Let's play some basketball. Give it to the big man and work inside out. Some good basketball. That's what you guys do here, right? No? Oh yeah, you traded your big man. Good one.

I can't believe you bunch of stupids won a title. How's Brian Winters supposed to make things work here? Want me to grow a beard and get a pair of goggles? Too bad. I hate skiing.

If you need me, I'll be parting my hair.

Two Old-Timey Bulls Talk Oil Prospecting

brad-and-joakim

Say, Bradford. Might I interest you in some tips on how one might acquire that oil, son?

Indeed, Josiahkim. That would interest me a great deal, for I often seek to acquire that oil, son.

'Tis a simple process, my dear friend Bradford.

Do tell.

The first step is finding a location that may provide you the opportunity for oil acquistion, son.

Naturally, yes. This, likely, would be my backyard where I often spend time shootin' at some food.

Yes, yes, of course. Once you have found this oil acquisition location, simply throw an ice pick at that oil, son.

An ice pick?

Yes, an ice pick, Bradford.

Interesting, Josiahkim. But where shall I store my oil, son?

Oh, Bradford! Dost ye know nothing about acquiring that oil, son?

I must admit, Josiahkim, I have never acquired that oil, son.

Fair enough. After ice picking said oil, simply collect that oil which is now spurting in to a burlap sack.

A burlap sack?

Yes, Bradford. Your finest burlap sack.

Oh, the choices! My collection is so great. 'Tis that it?

No, sir. After that, Bradford, we dance.

Most amazing tutorial, Josiahkim.

Think nothing of it, my good man! Now go on and acquire that oil, son!

Hogi Yogi, BYU Football, and Swing Dancing in SLC

Robert and I have been talking a lot lately about moving to Utah, since that is almost certainly what we are doing (unless some drastic changes happen in the next few weeks!). I posted a bit ago about my Utah anxieties... and since then, I've been making the effort to think about the move more realistically... to not just see the negatives of leaving the DC metro area... but to see the POSITIVES of moving to Utah (because there are MANY)...

What I Will LOVE About Living in Utah:
  1. Family -- being able to rely on family the way we've relied on friends here and be able to solidify and strengthen family relationships, particularly with siblings
  2. BYU and Jazz games -- seriously, I soooo look forward to seeing BYU play again; Robert dreams of watching the Jazz (when they win, hopefully!)
  3. Hogi Yogi -- small chocolate non-fat yogurt with raspberries, please... yummmmmm
  4. Swing and Ballroom Dancing -- sooo available in SLC with swing and ballroom dances going on tons... very clean, usually alcohol-free... what a fun date for us!
  5. Friends -- we feel so blessed that in all of our "homes" past and present, we have made some true, lasting friends. We love you and miss you and are excited to hang out, play games, and generally have fun with you again on a regular basis!
  6. Temples -- we live 45 mins. from the DC Temple, so we definitely are close to a temple now; but we look forward to being in Utah where we can go to different temples and see the new temples being built.
  7. Temple Square, Conference, Proximity to Church Headquarters -- what a blessing to be near to the Prophet again and be able to attend Sunday Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcasts, special events, even Conference.
  8. Beautiful, Livable Seasons -- fall and spring in DC is beautiful, but winter is drab (and when it snows, the whole city shuts down--check out our latest storm!!!) and summer is UNBEARABLE (soooooo sooooo hot and humid, with little to no relief in the shade or at night). I love winter as long as it's livable, so I look forward to that aspect of Utah; and summers in Utah are dry, not humid, so it's bearable, at least for me (with lots of lotion, of course)...
  9. Distribution Centers and Deseret Book -- you have no idea how wonderful it will be to go to a Deseret Book or a Distribution Center in mere minutes and be able to find resources for callings or for our family
  10. Skiing, Sledding, and Ice Skating -- winter sports in general... I love skiing and would love to do it again, in the greatest snow on Earth... woohoo...
  11. Family-Friendly Everything -- TONS of kid-friendly restaurants, activities, everything... most places are family-friendly and accomodating to such things as multiple kids (carts that have two kid spots, for example) and strollers...
  12. Dollar Theaters -- WE LOVE movies, so it is extremely exciting to live where there are dollar theaters... so we can see movies in the theater for cheap... woohoo!
  13. High-Quality Community Theater -- for us to see AND perform in... family-friendly usually again...
  14. Christmas Lights -- Christmas lights are somewhat skimpy around here... I look forward to lots of Christmas lights in neighborhoods around and the beautiful Temple Square lights (DC Temple lights ARE beautiful, though)
  15. Cheaper Almost Everything -- we pay (in a government-subsidized apartment complex) the same or more right now than some of our friends and family pay on their MORTGAGES in Utah... CRAZY!!... in DC, groceries are insanely expensive... movies are insanely expensive... EVERYTHING is insanely expensive... I look forward to Utah's DI (high-quality thrift!!!), great, cheap grocery stores... woohoo...
  16. SUPER Wal-Mart and SUPER Target -- no, we don't have these here... and I MISS THEM. I love being able to do my shopping all in one place... so I look forward to once again having the "Supers"
  17. Mountains -- I do miss my Utah mountains... I will miss DC TREES and greenery, but I will enjoy seeing the beautiful mountains again...
I could go on and on... but I'll stop there. Basically, I'm starting to feel more and more peace about moving to Utah, and we're getting ourselves excited by focusing on the pros (instead of the cons). I will miss our DC friends... my primary kids (AHH!!)... the city... but we look forward to this new adventure.

FIRST THINGS FIRST -- graduation, finding a job, moving... please do keep Robert and our family in your prayers! The next few months are CRAZY!

Love to you all! (-Jocelyn)

Great News

jennings-hair
  1. Brandon Jennings has adopted Armon Gilliam's haircut from a 1991 basketball card.
  2. Someone gave Daniel Artest a job.
  3. If you Google "armon gilliam flattop," this site is the number one result. I finally made it, Mom.

No Special Title

Perhaps I need a new tagline name for my blog. Something real juicy and catchy.
I was just catching up on Pioneer Woman and kept drooling over all the great things she writes and how silly she can be, but I LOVE it!
With the closing of Redeeming Love, I'm starting John Piper's newest book: A Sweet and Bitter Providence. I think this is what I've been yearning for! God is going to reveal some things within me.
There's so much running through my mind of things I want to do RIGHT NOW. Do you know what holds me back.................

what do you think...................

have you got it...........................

SCHOOL!

THIS PLACE!

Now don't get me wrong, I love my school and feel so blessed to be here because there are things I love about my campus. And even the Denton Square. (images by wistfulwon on FlickR)

I love this about Denton, Jupiter House and its atmosphere. I just want to be away though, from Denton, from Texas, some place new.

Day 2 of Daydreaming.
